How to Read a PMS Dashboard Like a Professional

Put any two investors in front of the same Portfolio Management Services data.

One sees a wall of numbers. The other extracts a shortlist in ten minutes.

The difference isn't intelligence - it's knowing which columns matter, in which order, and what each is actually telling you. Here's the professional's reading sequence, using our dashboard as the map.

First pass: Category - define your hunting ground

Large Cap, Mid Cap, Small Cap, Multi Cap, Flexi Cap, Micro Cap, Thematic, Global. Nothing else on the screen means anything until this is set.

Comparing a small-cap strategy's returns against a large-cap strategy's tells you nothing about either manager - they operate in different return universes with different risk contracts. Filter to the category that matches the role this allocation plays in your portfolio, and only then read on.

Second pass: Returns - the dashboard view

The AND Fintech PMS Dashboard shows TWRR returns across 6M, 1Yr, 5Yr and Since Inception - sorted by AUM descending by default. The top 10 strategies display full data freely; the rest unlock after a quick OTP verification.

Returns tell you what happened. They're the starting point, not the conclusion.

Third pass: Alpha - the report view

This is where professional evaluation begins. Alpha - each strategy's return minus its own benchmark's return - isolates manager skill from market movement.

The Monthly Alpha Report shows 1Y and 5Y Alpha for every strategy, sorted by 5Y Alpha descending. Scan for strategies positive across both windows. Single-period Alpha can be circumstance - a sector rally, one fortunate position. Two-window persistence, through different market phases, is the closest thing performance data offers to evidence of repeatable skill.

Fourth pass: Rating - the quick filter

Each strategy on the dashboard carries a Rating derived from its Alpha data:

 - Consistent - beats its benchmark over 1Y and 5Y

- Recent Performer - beats 1Y but not 5Y

- Underperformer - beats neither

- New Fund - under 1 year old

This is a factual classification from published data - not a recommendation.

Fifth pass: Compare - head to head

For strategies that survive the first four passes, the Compare tool puts up to 3 side by side - profile, returns, Alpha, fees - in one view. This is where shortlisting turns into a decision-ready comparison.

 The honest caveat

A dashboard - ours included - organises historical evidence. It cannot see your existing holdings and their overlap with a strategy, compute your personal net-of-performance-fee outcome, or weigh temperament fit. The dashboard produces a shortlist. The decision deserves a conversation.

 The takeaway

Category first. Returns second. Alpha third. Rating fourth. Compare fifth. Ten minutes, professionally spent.
