Apex Equity Ex-Top 100 Long-Short Fund

Apex Equity Ex-Top 100 Long-Short Fund is a Equity Ex-Top 100 Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) managed by Aditya Birla SL MF. SIFs are SEBI-regulated investment products with a minimum investment of Rs 10 Lakhs, designed for HNI investors who want strategies that go beyond traditional mutual funds.

SMID ex-top 100 universe + L/S overlay up to 25% short + InvITs 0-20% The fund is benchmarked against Nifty 500 TRI.

On the long side, the fund invests primarily in Indian listed equities across sectors including banking, financial services, IT, autos, consumer goods and industrials. SIFs can also take unhedged short positions via derivatives up to 25% of NAV, so net exposure to any single stock or sector may be lower than the long position size. This fund is classified as Tax A. Group A means the fund maintains gross equity exposure of 65% or more, so short-term capital gains (held under 12 months) are taxed at 20% flat and long-term capital gains are taxed at 12.5%.
